There has been a lot of speculation over the last couple of years about whether Google pays attention to the Meta Tags code on your website and while it has been obvious that the meta tags are not used as much by search engines as they once were, it is only now that there has been official confirmation that the Meta Keyword tag is in fact, useless.
The Google Webmasters video below explains in further detail, but all is not lost – Google may still use the Meta Description tag as a description on their search results for your website.
So, stop wasting your time with the Meta Keywords and instead spend your time optimizing your Meta Description or promoting your site using other methods.

Yeah, I believe it’s only Yahoo that pays any attention to the keywords, but boxes for them often exist in content management systems to allow people to assign keywords to facilitate “Related Items” boxes on the website.
I think that with the proliferation of Tagging on sites, there really is no need anymore, and it just confuses the site authors.

Yahoo does not exist anymore they are using Microsoft Bing for their search engine , however its good to know that google does not use meta keywords, i have all kinds of tools to research keywords and spend a lot of time changing them. I wish I would have had this information a year ago, I would have saved lots of time and money!
